Neverland Soufflesong Strawberry Rabbit Pt2: OPs

Earlier this year, Rose’s Valley and Neverland/Soufflesong collaborated to make the print Strawberry Rabbit, and released 2 JSKs and a skirt.  They are all sold out now, which is sad because I loved it. It was cute. It had bunnies, and strawberries, was not awfully expensive and looked cute. But I did not buy either because I though I had more time, and I thought that it could wait until after I get a job.

I WAS MISTAKEN.

But behold, the print is back, in OP and salopette form.

Not a huge fan of salopettes, since they require full blouses and I still don’t have many of those.

This is the long sleeve OP. It is cute, and I though it was another JSK cute. If it was a JSK, I would have no worries. However, the worry with OPs is shoulder width. They don’t even have one listed ;___;

Short sleeve OPs are a bit easier even with the shoulder width issue. It looks flexible. It looks cute. It would fit.

It’s so pink and perfect.

But ultimately, I still liked the JSKs better, and I should have bought them. Actually, I should have gotten 1 JSK in pink, 1 in apricot/cream/ivory, and then I could get this short sleeve OP in mint. And then my life would be complete, in regards to this print. And then I could buy a ton of the cherry deer dresses.

But no, I am saving money right now, so this entire post is just me moping over how I cannot buy any of these prints. ;___;

Fanplusfriend what the heck

Lately, F+F has had some really wonky, very much not-lolita releases.  However, as of late, there are a few releases that look pretty nice.

This is really nice. Of course, wear a blouse with it. It could be a nice classical or gothic lolita dress. Without a blouse, I guess one could style it as plain goth and not gothic lolita. But the irregular skirt and some of the fabric is a bit sparkly, so I really like it. I would consider buying this, except for the whole “not-buying-more-stuff” kick.

Oh look, a more Rococo-styled dress, so possibly good for hime (princess) style. The pink and white is nice, but not sure how I feel about the purple and grey. It looks kind of comfortable too.

It’s pretty. However, not really enough that I would want to buy it. Not unless there was a HUGE sale.

Another Rococo/hime-style dress, but with a stained glass print. One caveat is the ruffley part of the skirt is a separate skirt. So this could be kind of flexible, or it could be weird.  Personally, not a fan of stained glass prints,or the alternating lace fabric with plain fabric.

The grey-black colorway seems kind of awkward.  I think a darker grey would look nicer. Also, the ruffles at the elbows are just gross.

What the fresh hell is this. Same stained glass fabric, but there is a shiny, terrible overlay layer over pretty much the entire dress. Why. WHY. You know the lace fabric that was used in the cut above? Make the overlay out of that, and even then, this would be weird and awkward. I don’t understand what was going on with this dress at all.

Last but not least, there is this black empire style dress that is absolutely not lolita at all. Maybe EGA, but more importantly, I think this looks cute and also comfortably. I would buy this dress just to lounge around in and be comfy, but it is kind of pricey for some casual clothes. ヽ(´ー`)┌

Unfortunately, F+F no longer gives any normal names to the dresses (“Vintage Rococo Lolita Retro Midi Dress Wedding Dress Ladies Summer Prom Dress Pink Lilac”, perfect for search terms but a crap way to name a dress).

Long Ears and Sharp Ears – The Kingdom of Fairies OP Preliminary Review

IT’S FINALLY HERE. No time to wear it right now, so this is just a broad overview and first impressions.

Cute postcards I got along with my package. Thanks Clobba Online! I know it’s more expensive than Taobao alone, but I think I will use them anyway, at least for preorders.

This dress is very long, but I wanted the long OP. The material is a soft satin-y type, and the back bustle is chiffon and lace. The back of the bodice is fully shirred. This dress feels kind of HEAVY. But the print is so lovely in person.

Some of the decorative pins that come with the dress. The rose and ribbon pins, and a weird frilly ribbon that I am unsure of how to attach it to the dress because it lacks a pin.  OKAY so looking back at the official pictures, the ribbon pin goes at the waist, the rose at the collar and

the weird extra frilly bow is tied in with the waist ties. HUH okay.

First black wristcuffs, and I though they would be more versatile to go with my upcoming Krad dress, but nah. However, I am trying to wear them in two ways here. Which way is correct? (I think the top way :p )

Finally, the headbow and veil! The bow on the headbow comes off (see the second picture) and I am unsure of how to attach the veil to the headbow. It has button holes, but there are no buttons on the headbow. Actually, the bow being adjustable isn’t the worst sin ever.  Am I to just use pins and pin the veil on my head? Damn, I’ll need to figure that out. I think I will be able to use the veil with my upcoming Krad dress, so that is being thrifty, right?

Anyway, it looks beautiful and also huge, so I don’t think I will have any fitting issues. I also kind of want to go ahead and buy the JSKI in Emerald Green, but on a no-buying-new-dresses-I-haven’t-already-preordered thing this month (and next month…and until I get a job…;__:). I am completely turned off of the lavender after seeing it worn badly in person. ヽ(ー_ー )ノ Oh well.

I am still waiting for the Krad Lanrete Vampire dress (it was supposed to be released Mid-to-Late May and here we are in June, so behold the curse of Krad Lanrete taking forever to do things), and the Arcadian Deer Astrology Air (June or July?) dress. I imagine that I will be a bit antsy once I know I don’t have anything else to wait for in the mail. I might just need to be distracted. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

International Lolita Day – summer edition

It was hot and I was lazy, so I went grocery shopping. Also, I overslept.

But that doesn’t mean I didn’t take pictures.

Today’s coord was (again) Angelic Pretty Romantic Cat JSK, the stained pink Diamond Honey blouse, and my beloved Sosic Shop shoes. Not pictured are hair (I did a new hair style that I think was cute, and a couple bow hair clips) and socks. NORMAL SOCKS. It was hot and I was dying.  Actually, I think aside from the socks (which were pink and had cats on them, so they matched in a round-about sort of way), this was an okay basic outfit. Lots of strangers told me I looked cute, and should check out a store called ‘Donna’s’. Okayyy.

So I went grocery shopping, and then got fried chicken for lunch because I’ve been wanting it all week.

I barely ate any of it. T_T I planned on eating it for dinner. But then I ran more errands…to my beloved pastry shop!

They were extra cute today.

A large pastry full of cream, oh my goodness. I ate this one. It was lovely.

Strawberry pastry. Is the shell just dark or is it chocolate flavored? I will find out tomorrow when I eat it.

Blackberry and chocolate? Weird combination but I will give it a shot. I hope sitting in the fridge overnight doesn’t mess it up.

Then I got home from shopping, which includes many things (rice, noodles, grapefruit tea…) and then THIS

Kit Kats with almond and cranberry on top? Sure, why the heck not. They taste okay. I think they are dark chocolate.

However, the fluffy part of the day was cut short so I could go see one of my very much non-lolita friends, and eat yet more fried chicken as a weird coincidence.

To be fair, I think I like Popeyes better than Slim Chicken, but I am a sucker for Texas toast. The “Slim sauce” is awful though, do not recommend.

So I spent ILD doing some of my favorite things: shopping for and eating food. (๑╹ڡ╹๑) No wonder boobloaf is a problem.

Angelic Pretty Laforet Private Party

aka the Cherry theme event. There is a Creamy Cherry Special Set that I would care about if I liked the print better, and many cute cherry accessories. But that is not why we are here.

IS THAT A MINT TRUE ROSE STORY SPECIAL SET HOLY HELL I NEED THAT.

It’s a jumperskirt and probably not a hugely different cut from the other special set that I already have. BUT MINT. I don’t own any mint things yet. But that looks SO CUTE. Mint was not one of the original colorways (it was dark pink, red, black and blue). I didn’t think True Rose Story was even a hugely popular print, although I ended up liking it a lot more once I got it in person.

Since it is a Laforet Sale, this means it won’t be online at all so my only hope is maybe secondhand. Unless the mint is wildly unpopular and they do put it online eventually.

ヽ( ̄д ̄;)ノ But that is so cute. Times like this, I wish I lived in Japan so I could have even an inkling’s possibility of buying this dress.

Also, another(?) Chocolate Rosette Special Set, but no preview picture. Maybe one will pop up, but I’m not really interested in that print anyway.

UPDATE (6/2/2017): They released more pictures of things, but the only thing I care about is this:

I want it so badly. ;__;

Paradiso 2017 day 2 and final thoughts

Day 2 was the Tea Party, the Coordinate Contest and Q&A with Hello Batty.

First, here is my outfit.

Angelic Pretty Romantic Cat, which fit me about as well as expected. Didn’t realize there was a zipper until I got it on, but the zipper is required to take the dress off. Also needed an underskirt or else it would be way too short, but my pink F+F underskirt matches well enough. Wore it with one of my new Diamond Honey chiffon blouses, Cat’s Broom headpiece (which someone wanted a detail shot of?!?!?! That is…uh…okay?), tights and Sosic Shop shoes.

Lots of people recognized the print and were excited. That is what happens when you wear newly released AP, I suppose.

Holy hell, these are the best shoes in my entire life. They are even Kitty-approved. But seriously, when I put them on this morning, they were SO COMFORTABLE. My Amazon shoes pinch a little bit and are sore after a few hours, even the ones I wore yesterday. But these…oh my goodness, I could wear them all day. I could walk in them for long distances. I CAN DRIVE IN THEM. Probably cause the heel is so low, but OMG. Sosic Shop is going to get so many shoe orders from me once I am able to buy shoes again.

Face detail.

Tea was at the Webster House, a historical old home that has been converted to antique shop/restaurant. It is very pretty inside. As a restaurant, it is an upscale place. Not sure what their catering menu is, since their site says they custom design it to your event.

The shops are downstairs and the restaurant is upstairs.

There are even comfy places to rest in the bathroom. You want a fancy bathroom where the stalls are individual rooms without space for creeps to peek in? Webster House has it. It’s great.

So the first thing I noticed when we got to our tables was the tea.

Harney and Sons! That’s great tea! Still bagged tea, so not quite as fancy as Anna Marie’s loose leaf, but I will gladly take this, considering you have to account for the tastes of a wide variety of people. This is so much better than the Bigelow at the Nakakon Tea Party or last year’s Paradiso.

A tea party without enough hot water is awful. However, there were servers who regularly replaced the hot water for us, without us asking. They would come and check on the water. Also, if you got up and left your napkin in your seat, one would come over and fold it nicely for you. I couldn’t believe my eyes; that just seems so over-the-top fancy.  There were also sugar cubes, but didn’t see any lemon or milk. I imagine if someone really wanted some, they could have asked.

The food was delicious. When I first got up to the buffet, I was worried that the food was almost gone (I waited to get food after other people had), but then servers came back and refilled the buffet. SEVERAL TIMES. So the savory foods were bruschetta with basil and tomato, cucumber with herb cheese, toasted brioche with salmon, hollandaise and dill. The sweets were a dark chocolate strawberry, mini eclair, tiny lemon tart and mini cupcakes (strawberry chantilly, lemon raspberry and mocha).  And there was enough for seconds, or thirds.  IT WAS AMAZING. Didn’t like the mocha cupcake, but that’s just because I don’t like coffee.

Even if we end the Tea Party here, then I would give this a 10/10. I can’t find how much the individual day tickets cost anymore.  Early bird price was $35 per day, or $60 for both days (which I did) and I think Day 1 individual was $40. VIP was $75 for both days early bird or $50 for Day 1 (no special VIP benefits for Day 2), and unsure how much it went up.  But if all you wanted to do was go to the Day 2 Tea Party, $35 is a STEAL. Anne Marie’s Tea was around $30 for me, and you get one platter of food and all the tea you could want, but better quality tea. For this event, you get so much food and tea and water.  All of the hiccups from Day 1 (loli basement, lack of chairs, terribad lighting for photography) were not issues on Day 2. The Day 1 event still needs some kinks to be worked out, but if Paradiso makes Day 2 the Tea Party at the Webster House a regular event, it would be pretty damn awesome.  And I imagine people who just want the Tea Party or though the Day 1 experience was lame would be willing to go for Day 2 in the future.

But the there was also a Q&A with Hello Batty, a lolita fashion blogger from Arizona and the Coordinate Contest. I missed the end of the Q&A and the entire contest (which ended up just being her declaring the coord she liked the best) because I had to go find an isolated place to cough a lung up.  After that, the organizers tried to take some group shots of us, so we all squeezed onto some stairs.  I went home shortly after that.

So to review the entire event, compared to last year.

Fashion Show – more designers present, but some things were very much not lolita. Also the photography that has been posted so far stinks because we were in a basement. Last year’s fashion show had fewer models, but the lighting was great. As for how good the coords were this year vs last year…I recall thinking some last year were kind of wonky but at least everyone had a petticoat.

Food – Day 1 food was pretty sad but I was not expecting much. Day 2 food was amazing. This was a huge improve.

Tea – 1000% better.

Location – both locations had close, although paid parking. Hotel Phillips is pretty, but we were in a basement.  WHY. WHY A BASEMENT.  They have other event spaces.  The Webster House is amazing and I hope the event can go back/I hope no one did anything to piss off management.

Vendors – Lolita Collective is always great. Papercute is great. Teal is great.  Didn’t care for anything from Wunderwelt but that’s not their fault. The other vendors didn’t interest me too much but nothing wrong with that.  One vendor never showed up, so nothing to comment on that. However, it was dark, and the racks for LC and Wunderwelt were shoved into corners because WE WERE IN A BASEMENT.

Ouji Pageant – this was hilarious. I don’t know much about what makes a good vs a bad ouji outfit, and one prince was definitely EGA and not ouji, but it was funny and I hope this occurs again.   Last year, the special event was going to an art museum (a FREE one, by the way), which was nice, but also not really special.

Event Guests – ヽ(´ー`)┌  There were 3 guests this year compared to 1 guest last year, but it seemed like they mostly stuck to the people they already knew.  Maybe I am just too anti-social and shy to go talk to them myself so I am biased. Guests aren’t really something that would draw me to an event, unless it was someone REALLY famous (and thus not gonna happen, most likely).

I think this year definitely improved compared to last year in all aspects, aside from location. I didn’t even like the location last year, but BASEMENT. If they were going to do something like a gothic lolita themed tea, it might work better. But for a general lolita event where people want to take pictures and browse through dress racks, you need a larger room and GOOD LIGHTING.  Also, it was nice that you could attend either of the days and not necessarily both. I hope they keep that model.

Overall, I had a good weekend, made new friends and didn’t die. Still no idea what was in the VIP goodie bags, but I think that if I attend next year (if I am in the area…), I would probably give VIP another shot. At least so I can have a damn chair.

Paradiso 2017 – day 1

I woke up today, and I felt….OKAYISH. Okay enough to go to Paradiso afterall. I am so glad; I would be upset if I paid $30 and then NOT go.

First, some details on wearing Krad Lanrete’s Beauty and the Beast. The normal waist cut still feels fairly high waist on me, but that may just be a western-body size vs eastern-body size thing. Also, I felt like the skirt was nearly too short. It says the waist is best at under 82cm, and that is a fact. I had a little trouble with the zipper, particularly at the part where it switches from skirt to bodice. Ended up totally removing the ribbon lacing on the back. Bust fit well enough. Fabric is cotton and feels pretty and the print is just so damn beautiful. But I need to go on a diet before I wear this again. Do not want to break the zipper.

For the rest of my outfit, I decided to wear the Little Dipper cream chiffon blouse, which is good cause I felt overheated a few times anyway.  The Little Dipper blouse fits perfectly, and the sleeve elastic does not bite into my arms at all.  Don’t think anyone cared too much that I have bandages on my arms. There were some people lacking petticoats or wearing normal slip on shoes, so I feel like my ita sins should be forgiven. Also, wristcuffs, white tights (yes yes I know), shoes, and the headband as pictured below.

Yay I look…okay! I didn’t do too much for makeup because I was feeling awful. However, I think I looked pretty decent today.  However, I know my picture was taken today so it’s a matter of time before people comment. On the other hand, I might be so un-noteworthy that I’ll be ignored. That is cool too.

Drove down to the Hotel Phillips and found parking a block away in a garage. I always worry about parking at these sorts of things.

Fancy lobby.

Fancy tiny elevator.

Fancy lobby couch.

This year, they let us wait in the lobby instead of outside (last year, it was hot and the event space didn’t have a lobby and it was awful to wait outside, but also I got there way too early so this year, I tried to get there just shortly before General Admittance) and it was glorious. Around 11:30am, we got to go downstairs to a basement event room. All I could think was that we were in a “loli basement”.

Snacks! The actual tea party is tomorrow, so today, we were only offered refreshments of cookies, macarons, more cookies, water, soda and tea. This was fine, and I knew ahead of time that we would not get a real ‘lunch’ but I was hungry by the time I got home. To be fair, I looked at the catering options offered by the Hotel Phillips, and even this much catering (i.e. something that could easily be grocery store cookies and frozen macaroons) was stupidly over priced. ヽ(´ー`)┌ I’m not upset though. Actually, being able to grab as much water as I wanted was handy because I was a disgusting mess.

Yum, snacks. Actually, they were pretty good. I hope that if anyone was diabetic, they had planned to eat before/after because I don’t think any of this would have been good for them. This, of course, is just a random showerthought in my head.

As for vendors, I was a little disappointed. Lolita Collective was there and had tights and socks, but none in colors I wanted, so I didn’t complete my quest for tights and socks. Teal Slather, who has done the art for Paradiso the past few years, had a booth. Papercute also had a very cute booth. I’ll show off what I bought later. There were a few other booths of artwork, a very gothy booth I wasn’t interested in, one with soaps and cosmetics and a cute themed one that seemed to sell exclusively earrings.  Overall, there was not much that I really cared to buy this year, aside from the few things I did buy.

Papercute’s Booth! Okay, I lied, I kinda want the giant rainbow alpacasso bag in this picture, but I would never use it, so I was responsible and didn’t buy it.

Wunderwelt sponsored a consignment shop, so that was interesting to look at, but I didn’t have plans of any major purchases. Anyway, I feel uncomfortable buying a dress on the spot without doing any research into sizing.

So the room was set up (in the loli basement, hah) with vendors around the edge of the room, and chairs for the VIPs. Everyone else gets to stand.

I am super cool with VIPs getting the front rows, but it would have been nice to have a place to sit during the 4.5 hour event. I suppose if I was reaaaaally tired, I could go back to the lobby to sit, and I’m sure no one would say anything if I did just find a chair and sit in it. I just don’t wanna break any rules. However, the basement room wasn’t that big so having chairs for everyone would have made it more crowded.

As for the main events of the day, there was a Fashion show and the Midwest Ouji-sama Pageant. The fashion show had the indie Lolita brands Eat Me Ink Me, Mossbadger, Mighty Kingdom and I Do Declare, and the indie J-fashion-that-is-definitely-not-lolita-but-also-unsure-what-it-is Crystal Arcade. The lolita brands are all more gothic or classic, and were pretty nice. There was one Mighty Kingdom dress I really liked. And then everything from Crystal Arcade looked like…pastel decora clubware. It felt a little out of place to me, but I should remember Paradiso is for all J-fashion, not just lolita.

The Midwest Ouji-sama Pageant was hilarious and awesome. (Ouji is the boy-style equivalent to lolita, so generally a blouse, vest and shorts. Also lots of capes and gloves and fancy accessories. Longer pants make me think it is more EGA/elegant gothic aristocrat.) Apparently one of the committee members had this idea, and though that one of the special guests would make a perfect judge, and then later found out that the special guest had a similar idea, and ta-da! So there were 6 Princes who had to present their outfit, woo a Princess and answer a random question. They all did a pretty good job, although one of the Princes seemed overly cringey to me, like trying to be extra edgy and emo, and then another Prince woo’d their prince with a poem that included the line “the pussy is too good”, or something similar. Ergh. Isn’t that a bit….LEWD?! ಠ▃ಠ But the crowd though it was hilarious, as did the judges. Maybe I am just a cranky old lady. However, prince in shironui won and that makes me happy. They looked great and their woo-ing was beautiful and they stayed in character the whole time and I was impressed.

After the pageant, there was a raffle (I won nothing, but almost all the prizes were “Brand Whore” pins and I would rather not win that anyway. There were a few Kuma Crafts necklaces for prizes and omg that would have been awesome to win.) and then the last hour of the event was to mingle and shop some more.

When we first got in, there was a good 45 minutes to mingle and shop, and between the fashion show and pageant, and between the pageant and raffle/awards, more time to mingle and shop. So after the awards, I went home because there wasn’t any more shopping I wanted to do and I was tired. There were a few people I knew there, so I talked to them a little bit, but for the most part, I was all mingle-d out. So I went home.

And finally, my haul, which is sadly lacking in anything I planned to buy.

Some mini plush cats from the Papercute Booth because cats. I can attach them to the handle of my parasol and THAT can help differentiate my Lolita Collective Parasol from the other identical ones other people have!

Speaking of Lolita Collective, I bought a strawberry ring and a seashell ring from them. Strawberry for next week’s strawberry meetup, and seashell to go with my Aquarium Carnival OP. The stationary and tote bag are from Teal Slather’s booth. I guess I have a thing for cute tote bags. And stationary.

Last year, Paradiso was a ~5 hour event, with a fashion show, tea party and guest Q&A all on the same day and then an art museum and picnic on the second day. This year, the fashion show is one day, while the tea party and guest Q&A are a different day. I like this format better, primarily because it means the tea party will have better food.

Oh, I guess there is a Coordinate contest tomorrow too, but I don’t give a damn about that.

So far this year, Paradiso has been awesome. I probably should have gone for a VIP ticket after all, perhaps just so I could have a chair to sit in °˖✧∩(◎ヮ◎∩)✧˖° and I bet the goodie bags are better too. A girl I know (sort of) was a VIP this year (again) and I should have asked what was in it. Maybe tomorrow. There were some bags leftover too. I should have peaked in one. I am very excited for the Tea Party tomorrow. Please please please be actual nice tea and not just grocery store tea!
